The scale is just a number!
If you’re starting up with your fitness journey, PLEASE write that down and legit post it somewhere that you’ll see it each and everyday. I cannot express the importance behind that statement enough.
I totally understand why people rely heavily on the scale when it comes to a weight loss journey. I mean c’mon, it’s literally called “weight - loss”. But I am seriously at the point now that I wish I could change it to be called a “life betterment journey” as it is much more fitting to the actual process.
The thing is, the scale is a great tool to be able to track progress and see how things are going, but it should never be the end all/ be all when it comes to your fitness journey! There are SO many other factors that you should be tracking and looking at each and every week when you do your check-in!
- Take progress photos first thing in the morning when you wake up. You’ll be amazed at the physical changes you’ll see throughout your journey EVEN if that scale is not moving in your favor.
- Measure your waist once a month and write that number down. I promise you that if you put in the work and follow your plan, that number will continue to drop and it will be a huge motivating factor for ya!
Are Clothes Fitting Differently?
- I always love when my clients reach out all excited and tell me that they are noticing clothes feeling more loose on them! And this honestly is another great way to track and notice progress!
Are Workouts/ Cardio Sessions Becoming More Easy?
- Pay close attention to how you are feeling during your workouts and cardio sessions! Was what was hard in the beginning of your program now easy? If so, that is progress!
I can go on and on about different ways to monitor progress throughout your journey and I highly suggest starting with those 4 listed above!
You’ll have those weeks where the scale doesn’t move in the direction you want it to, but that doesn’t mean you’re not progressing! By tracking/ paying attention to those other factors, you’ll be able to see clear as day the amazing progress you are making!
